Zooni Wear

Check out the great products over at Zooni..........we LOVE them. My little pumpkin look so cute in her Zooni hat. She has the pink Flower Power one and it is adorable. It almost makes me ready for the cold weather and snow so she can wear it more! The quality is great, it feels so well made and won't go out of shape or tear easily like some I have bought for her. These hats are handmade with a blend of natural cotton and micro polyester. They are sooo soft, wish they made them in my size, but not so sure I would look at cute in one as Alex does!!

Bits from a Brit is proud to recommend Zooni for your little ones!

Go take a look at how cute they are! www.zooniwear.com

Zoobie

8:07 AM Posted by Bits from a Brit

Meet Alex's new friend!
This is Lencho The Lion, her new Zoobie Pet.

These stuffed animals are more than they appear. They are a pet, a pillow and a blanket all in one! They have a great selection of animals, we chose the Lion as that's Alex's favorite animal!

The body of the animal and the blanket are so soft, I love it and want one of my own! When I Alex and I lay down on her bedroom floor and read stories I always have Lencho to cuddle with (Alex is not in the cuddly stage right now!). We will be bringing Lencho of vacation with us next week.

It is a great all around product that will entertain your child, soothe them and keep them warm and comfortable all in one. Another one of my favorites is the Pink Hippo!

They have recently expanded their selection and now have Baby Zoobies, Zoobies and Jumbo Zoobies. They have animals in the Safari Collection and the Zoo Collection.

The Baby Zoobie has a blanket size of 29"x24"

The Regular Zoobie has a blanket size of 53"x 34"

The Jumbo Zoobie has a blanket size of 91"x59"

Check out some of the other great animals and order one for your munchkin (or yourself!) http://www.zoobiepets.com/

OohLaLaMama - Contest!

10:12 PM Posted by Bits from a Brit

OohLaLaMama is an online boutique with an amazing selection of kids clothes. This is funky rock clothing for your little rock star.

Alex has a great flower dress from them and the quality is great. The first time she wore it was for a family picnic and she got orange juice all down the front of it (typical toddler). I freaked out because I through for sure it would stain but it didn't. The fabric it is made of seem to let the juice slide right off. No Stains!! This has always been a problem for us as her clothes seem to get ruined the first time she wears them. But not her OohLaLaMama dress - it still looks like new.

Take a look at their great designs over at OohLaLaMama, with their vast selection they have something for everyone.

OohLaLaMama has generously offered a giveaway to our readers. Two lucky winners will receive the item of their choice from OohLaLaMama. Visit their site an dlet us know your favorite item and leave a comment including your email address to be entered for a chance to win!

Karito Kids

7:29 AM Posted by Bits from a Brit

I am so excited to introduce you to Alex's new friend Piper. She has to be the most beautiful doll I have ever seen. These dolls really are amazing. They are the kind of dolls that look real and have beautiful hair that is washable and stylable. She is almost as tall as Alex!

Take a look as this picture - isn't she gorgeous?

I must sound kind of crazy...I mean who would go on and on about how gorgeous a doll is? Trust me - You just have to see them for yourself! I am making it my mission to buy Alex on of each of these dolls for her World Collection. The collection includes Piper from Australia, Ling from China, Zoe from the USA, Gia from Italy, Lulu from Kenya and Pita from Mexico.

Best of all purchasing these dolls means you are giving to Charity too. Karito means Charity, and every doll has a passcode so you can go online with your child and they can choose where the money goes. It all goes to helping other children and your child gets to decide where. I think this is great, not only does your child get the doll and book, they also learn about how special it is to give to others in need.

Please, please, please go take a look for yourself and add them to your Christmas list this year. Not only are you giving a gift to someone you love, you are also giving a gift to a child in need.

Lands End

7:13 PM Posted by Bits from a Brit

We love our Lands End Study Haul Backback! This is a great, functional bag that fits so much in it! It is pretty amazing how much of Alex's things I can get in here. When she spends the night at Grandma's she always takes her Lands End bag. We used to pack 3 diaper bags with all the things she needed for an overnight stay: clothes, diapers, toys, sippy cups, books, blankets, her bear. You name it, we had to pack it. Now we have this amazing bag from Lands End, everything fits into one bag and it makes my life so much easier.

So whether you need a bag for school, work or play you must take a look at these bags at Lands End. Bits from a Brit gives them a big thumbs up for both functionality and durability!

Ringling Bros Circus

10:57 AM Posted by Bits from a Brit

We went to the Circus! I couldn't post for you all last night because our family went to the Ringling Bros Circus. We had a wonderful time. We met up with Shanda from Parents with Style and her family downtown Grand Rapids for a great family night out. Alex loved it - she sat the whole time eating popcorn (thanks Shanda!) and watching what was going on. She would clap and shout and cheer for all the performers. Her favorites were the clowns and the dancers/trapeze artists. Shanda caught lots on her Flip Camera so she will be posting soon to show you all the action - Parents With Style.

The Ringling Bros. Circus just may be coming to a town near you!
How great would it be to take the family to see the animal shows, clown acts, high wire trapeeze, jugglers, and much more family fun? And if you get there an hour early, you’ll be able to see an elephant paint, try on a costume, clown around, work those muscles, shake paws with a performing pound puppy and more with your host, Leo Acton.
I also wanted to include some links about the treatment of the animals at the Ringling Bros Circus. I myself would never condone any animal cruelty and feel that Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey are taking care of their animals. I am an animal lover!

          Sikulu & Harambe

9:12 AM Posted by Bits from a Brit

This is a beautiful story about kindness, courage and helping others in need. Sikulu and Harambe by the Zambezi River, an African Version of the Good Samaritan Story.

This is the first in a series of adventures that follow Sikulu the Spider and Harambe the Hippo as they travel to different countries in Africa. In this story, they are in the village of Sioma where they encounter an old woman in need of help. The other animals all have convenient excuses for not helping while Sikulu & Harambe are the only ones who do. Based on an actual folktale, it is a great story that reinforces the beauty of kindness to young children. The book also weaves information about Zambian culture into the story.

This book is unique and offers a perspective from a totally different culture, which is something I try to teach to my Daughter. Every child should get to experience things about different cultures to broaden their perspectives, and without the endless money and time to travel the world, the best way to show this to your child is through the wonder of books.

We recently had the chance to check out this great set of DVD's from Braincandy and Alex loved them! They capture her attention, which is a major accomplishment with my toddler! The moment she sat down do watch the first one her eyes were glued to the TV, which is not considered to be a good thing for a small child but with these great educational DVD's you know your child is learning and her imagination is running wild. As Parents, especially with toddlers running around, we all know that a few minutes of our kids sitting still and being entertained is a necessary thing to keep our sanity, and now you don't need to feel guilty about letting them! These DVD's teach children while entertaining them and keep their attention. We love educational DVD's and we highly support Braincandy. They are stimulating and educational - what more could you want from a childs DVD?

          Table Toppers

7:45 AM Posted by Bits from a Brit

This is such a great idea! When we go out to eat I hate that our Angel has to eat off the table. She can't have a plate yet as she is in the habit of throwing them, so she has her food right on the restaurant table. Germs don't freak me out as much as they do some people, but this is something that did bother me! Me and my Hubby had kept thinking "What can we do to solve this?", and one day he said "Isn't there something that will stick to the table?" Then I found Table Toppers! These are disposable placemats that stick to the table, making eating out easier, more fun and most importantly more hygenic for your little ones! They stick to the table so well that my Daughter can't pull it off, but are easy to remove when you are done - a perfect amount of stick!

Neat Solutions also has more products in their line, such as the Potty Topper, Disposable Bibs, All in One Meal Kits, Portable and Disposable Floor Mats, to name just a few. They have a bunch of different designs such as Winnie the Pooh, Dora, Diego and Baby Einstein.

We love the Table Toppers and always have them on hand for our little girl.

Check out their site at http://www.tabletopper.com/ to buy some for your little angels!

          Some more from their site:

We are a "family owned", "mother owned" baby business. We understand the needs of parents with young children.
Our mission is to provide peace of mind to parents on-the-go by providing unique baby essentials.
It all started in 1995 when our founder, Beth, went out to lunch with her baby and ordered some "finger food" for the first time. The chicken strips came on a plate, which quickly became a Frisbee for her son. (Sound familiar?) She tried the paper placemat...it got tossed, too. The only choice was to let him eat right off the dirty table.
She had heard about reports documenting the presence of germs on restaurant tables.
“It didn't make any sense…you spend the first six months of your child's life sterilizing baby bottles and then you feed them on a dirty table!” - Beth
Beth decided to take action and soon the Table Topper® Stay-in-Place Mat® became the only answer to a big problem facing us when we go out to eat with our children.

Check out even more reasons to take the time to spend family meal time with your kids:

There are not many things better for a family than to simply have meals together. Families, especially kids, benefit enormously from frequent positive family meals:

          • Improves family communication

          • Improves nutrition and eating habits

          • Improves literacy development among preschoolers

          • Develops a protective factor for adolescents against tobacco, alcohol, drugs and low grade point averages

The more meals your family has together, the more you'll enjoy these amazing benefits! And remember, keep the meals positive, lighthearted and fun.

More specifically, according to research by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University, children and teens who have frequent family meals:

          • Are at half the risk for substance abuse compared to teens who dine with their families infrequently

          • Are less likely to have friends or classmates who use illicit drugs or abuse prescription drugs

          • Have lower levels of tension and stress at home
          • Are more likely to say that their parents are proud of them

          • Are likelier to say they can confide in their parents

          • Are likelier to get better grades in school

          • Are more likely to be emotionally content and have positive peer relationships

          • Have healthier eating habits

          • Are at lower risk for thoughts of suicide

          • Are less likely to try marijuana or have friends who use marijuana

Introducing Hip T! This is a great product that helps us fashionable Moms wear the low rise jeans we love without showing off some things we don't want to! When I was pregnant we had something similar to cover our baby bumps and at that time I thought "Why hasn't someone done this as a regular line?" Then I found Hip T, these are great T-Shirt bands that give the layered look we love without the bulky look we don't! No thong exposure, no bum cleavage and no t-shirt tangle. That's right girls - at last we can look funky and fashionable without the thong peek-a-boo, plumbers crack or muffin top! I tried out the Hip T in Dark Fuchsia and I find myself wanting one in every color! Hats off to the girls of Hip T, Christine and Kelley, for giving us a fabulous addition to every woman's wardrobe!

Hip T has offered a giveaway for one of our readers! Please go to www.myhip-t.com and let us know your favorite color and design. Leave it in a comment with your email address to be entered to win one of your own!

Story behind the hip-T? You bet!

After years of loving and living in our low rise jeans and layering t-shirt over t-shirt, we had to acknowledge there was a problem. Daily activities such as sitting at a restaurant or bending to tie a shoe were met with constant rear end exposure of one type or another. To make matters worse, we were tired of dealing with bulky messy layers of t-shirts in hopes of camouflaging what might make an appearance with the next bend and snap! Let's not forget, layering in itself is a great look. So, whether it was butt crack hanging out of the trunk, or using that thin sweatshirt as an additional "cover-up" accessory around the waist, something had to be done short of walking away from the investment we had made in the denim department.

It is true, the best products are the simple ones which make our lives easier and more comfortable. With that in mind, we took an old white t-shirt and cut the bottom half off. We slipped it on around the scene of the crime and layered with another t-shirt. Now it was time for the test – a good deep squat in front of the mirror. Hey – no thong exposure, no bum cleavage and no t-shirt tangle. How easy! The first hip-T was resurrected from the depths of the t-shirt drawer. hip-hip hurray!

Whether you spend your day at a desk in school, the office, or simply find yourself bending to tie a youngster’s shoe a dozen times a day, you deserve a protected rear view. We all have had wacky ways to hide the side (or rather back end) effects of our favorite jeans. Our company, g3 Originals is committed to providing ladies everywhere with an easy, comfortable and stylish way to cover their assets and clean up the rear view for everyone's viewing pleasure.

          See Kai Run

6:30 AM Posted by Bits from a Brit

This has to be one of my favorite products so far. I am very picky when it comes to what I put on my Baby's feet, when she was small she was always bare foot as I hadn't found that perfect pair that I knew would be good for her feet. Putting the wrong shoes on your kids feet can cause growth problems and their feet will shape to the form of the shoe if you don't pick the right kind. The shoes at See Kai Run are amazing! We have the Steph Boots from their new Fall line. These are high quality kids shoes and they have a great selection for all sizes.

These shoes have flexible soles that are healthy for developing feet but sturdy enough for outdoor play! The soft sheepskin leather is fabulous and Alex loves to put them on and run around the house in them (it's still too warm to wear them outside, even here in Michigan!) You must go and check out all the great new styles they have at See Kai Run. These shoes will now be must have for every season for my Daughter.

The Story of See Kai Run:

In 2002 I gave birth to a little boy named Kai. Two years later, I gave birth to a company called See Kai Run. See Kai Run was inspired by the need for comfortable shoes with flexible soles for my little Kai to wear outdoors. I wanted to create a line of shoes that was as happening as Kai - bold, hip, fun, with an urban sensibility. Something entirely different than what was offered.

In November 2004 the first shoes hit children’s boutiques and the response has been overwhelming ever since! Modern day parents have echoed what I had suspected - we crave something unique and special to reflect our children's personality as well as our own.

Twice a year, I design a new collection of 15-20 designs. Our designs are sophisticated and classic with modern twists sprinkled throughout. And most importantly, our shoes are healthy for developing feet. The soles are made of extremely flexible rubber which is great for outdoor use while allowing the foot to flex in all the right places. They're also made of butter soft leather with a breathable leather lining and padded collars for comfort. Finally, See Kai Run shoes are easy to get on and off with Velcro closures that ensure a great fit.

Like they say, "Every journey begins with the first step." Join us in celebrating those first steps!

          Nana Star - Contest!

7:35 AM Posted by Bits from a Brit

I would like to introduce you to a fabulous doll for your kids. The Nana Star doll is a soft cloth doll which is really light weight and very pretty. She comes with a beautiful book and CD which shares the story of Nana Star. This sweet doll has a well written story that will keep your children interested throughout. The moment we received our Nana Star Doll in the mail Alex was so excited to play with it, I couldn't get the packaging open quickly enough! Now she even takes Nana Star for walks and tries to give her a bath. It is so cute! I love that this doll has Ballerina style legs, we cross them over at the ankles so she can sit just like Alex when we read the story. Each Nana Star book includes an accompanying audio CD with the storybook and a sing-along song. To make the book a little more interactive, the authors have included a spelling mistake in each book and encourage readers to find it and send them a postcard with the correction. Children are then eligible to receive an 8x10 photo of the Nana Star costumed character and become an honorary member of the Nana Star Little Twinkles Club. The Club is expanded on its website, Nana Star, where language arts activities for emerging readers are offered.

We have a Nana Star Doll & Book set to giveaway! Visit http://www.nanastar.com/ and leave us a comment telling us the name of one of her friends, please remember to include you email address. GOOD LUCK!

About the Real Nana Star from their site!

Elizabeth Owens is the creator of Nana Star and, to those who know and love her, she is the real Nana Star. Born February 1, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland, Elizabeth has three children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.Elizabeth had a very special relationship with her grandson, Vance. Together they stood by the bedroom window at night gazing at the stars. Vance often asked his Nana, "Is the Moonman really out there?" Nana told him that the Moonman was always there for him. When Vance moved away, Elizabeth sent him hand-crafted cards made of construction paper and illustrated with numerous darling characters, drawn with markers and decorated with colorful stickers. She became "Nana Star" and, with the Moonman and many other friends, watched over Vance. This was Elizabeth's way of showing Vance that she was always with him.Over time, an enchanting collection of thoughtful cards and remembrances inspired by Nana Star came into being. The characters in this sweet and endearing collection touched the hearts of everyone who saw them. Now the next generations are involved in sharing Nana Star's magic through a picture book series and toy collection. Linda Saker, Owens's daughter, is the series illustrator; her granddaughters, Elizabeth Sills and Elena Patrice, write and publish the Nana Star stories; and her five great-grandchildren have contributed inspiration to this special undertaking.Elizabeth created Nana Star out of a great love for Vance and a desire to give him a sense of home wherever he was. Today, we hope to extend that same love and feeling of belonging to children everywhere, in dedication to Vance, who now dances among the stars.
